Help & Troubleshooting

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about scanning, instruments, and subscriptions.

Why did the scanner miss a note or misread a measure?
Optical Music Recognition (OMR) works best with clean, evenly-lit scans. If a sheet has faint print, angled photography, shadows, or pencil annotations, some symbols may be misdetected. You can quickly fix any misread notes by tapping the Edit (Pencil) icon in the player and using the circular tool palette to adjust pitch or duration.
How do I practice with only one hand?
On the player screen, look for the small green checkboxes located to the left of each staff line. Tap the checkbox to mute that staff so you can play that part live on your acoustic piano or keyboard while the app plays the other hand.
How do I change between "Do-Re-Mi" and "C-D-E"?
Navigate to the Settings tab in the app, locate the Notes Naming section, and select your preferred format between Do Re Mi (solfège) and C D E (standard pitch letter names). Your choice updates key guides and sheet markers immediately.
What instruments are available?
Tap the musical note icon on the player transport bar to choose from over 10 realistic soundfont instruments (including Acoustic Grand Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Guitars/Basses) and fine-tune the volume balance between hands.
What is the difference between Free and Premium?
  • • Free Plan: Includes 5 sheet music scans, access to starter catalog songs, and standard piano audio.
  • • Premium Plan: Unlocks unlimited sheet music scans, full catalog access, 10+ soundfont instruments, and standard MIDI (.mid) file export.
How do I restore my purchase?
If you reinstall Music Banana or switch to a new iPhone or iPad, go to the Settings tab, tap Restore Purchases, and sign in with the Apple ID used to make the original purchase.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed directly by Apple through your Apple ID:
  1. Open your iOS device's Settings app.
  2. Tap your Apple ID name at the very top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Music Banana and choose Cancel Subscription.
